Back for the second year in a row is Paws 2 Dance, a canine musical freestyle group. As the name suggests, handlers perform choreographed dance routines with their dogs. Props and costumes add to the spectacle.
A bit about Paws 2 Dance: The club started out in 2000 and each year has hosted several competitions both in BC and Washington. Apart from the competitions, the club performs at numerous dog festivals, care homes, and senior centres. In 2010 and again in 2012, P2D staged feature length productions involving dancing dogs, indoor kite-flying, police dog work, and ballet at the Bell Centre in Surrey. The movie, Unleashed; documents the preparation and production of the 2010 show, Escape the Darkness, and appeared in numerous adjudicated film festivals before being released. This year, as well as performing several new routines, the club will take a couple of songs to show the audience some of the building blocks or “tricks” needed to create a performance. And, back by popular demand will be the barrel races where the dogs play by the rules but the handlers sometimes cheat. Featured this year will be Ray Underwood who has led the group since its inception and is known internationally for his freestyle and in particular for his interpretation of music. The club hopes you enjoy the show.
