Come see what makes animals weird YET wonderful on the Weird & Wonderful Stage.

“The Good, The Bad & The Ugly... Life with Parrots”

A snap shot of daily life, living with exotic birds. As well as being on the Weird & Wonderful stage, BC Exotic Bird Society will be at their booth with different species of parrots to help educate families on parrot ownership and husbandry. They will offer photos with many of the exotic birds for the whole family, by donation.

BC Exotic Bird Society’s goal is to increase awareness through education to help people understand these beautiful birds. As well as helping to support sustainable conservation programs and helping support our local community birds in need. BC Exotic Bird Society runs monthly meetings to help parrot owners develop good working relationships with their birds hoping to create permanent homes and therefore preventing them from ending up in shelters.

“The Fascinating World of Parrots”

Did you know that parrots can live 60 to 80 years? Did you know they eat with their feet?  Did you know that they are still, very much wild animals?  Learn these and other fascinating facts about parrots at their interactive parrot trivia session and hear them also discuss some practical aspects of what it's like to share your life and your home with these amazing birds.

“Snakes, Lizards and More – Oh My!”

The Westcoast Reptile Education Society’s is a non-profit group exclusively based on volunteer work, organizing events that counter the vast misinformation currently widespread about reptiles, teaching respect and fighting fear and introducing people to the amazing beauty of snakes and lizards while reminding them of these animals' precious contribution to the balance and diversity of nature.

One of the ways they do this is selling and installing Rabbitats. The Rabbitats themselves are ‘micro-sanctuaries’, enclosures designed to be escape proof, predator-proof, visually pleasing, gently interactive, sustainable and low maintenance. They can be indoor or outdoor depending on space available. The Rabbitat booth at the Pet Lover Show will provide information about the charity, rabbitat enclosures and give you the chance to interact with some of their rescued rabbits.
